On the second day of the Criticism Class at BMM College, I first participated as a student in Jishnu and Kalyani’s Malayalam classes, followed by Anusree and Ajmi’s Social Science sessions. Experiencing these lessons from a student’s perspective allowed me to observe different teaching styles and engagement strategies used in language and social studies. It provided insights into how instructional techniques and content delivery influence learning outcomes.
Later, I took on the role of an observer for Jesna’s Mathematics class, analyzing the lesson structure, clarity of explanations, and student interaction. This observation helped me recognize effective methods for teaching mathematical concepts and areas for improvement. Additionally, as a peer critic for Joel’s Mathematics class, I provided constructive feedback on lesson clarity, student engagement, and teaching techniques. This experience encouraged self-reflection and a deeper understanding of impactful lesson delivery.
The day reinforced the importance of preparation, clarity, and adaptability in teaching. Engaging in both student and observer roles refined my understanding of classroom dynamics and instructional strategies. Providing peer criticism further developed my analytical approach to teaching, which will be beneficial for my future practice sessions. Overall, it was a valuable experience in both learning and professional growth.
