Stress Management Workshop

A Stress Management Workshop was conducted at BMM II Training College to help participants understand stress, its impact, and effective coping strategies. Led by Sreejith Nair, a Clinical Psychologist from IAFM, the session provided insights into the science behind stress, focusing on key brain structures like the prefrontal cortex, limbic system, and brainstem. The distinction between the brain and the mind was explained, along with the differences between worry, anxiety, and stress. Participants also learned about various types of stress, including acute, chronic, and workplace stress, and their effects on mental and emotional well-being.

The session emphasized the negative impact of chronic stress on physical and psychological health, highlighting risks like hypertension, anxiety disorders, and burnout. Educators, in particular, were advised on the importance of stress management due to their demanding workloads. Practical stress management techniques such as mindfulness, deep breathing, time management, and relaxation exercises were introduced and practiced during the session. The interactive nature of the workshop, supported by a PowerPoint presentation and real-life examples, made it engaging and informative for participants.

The workshop proved to be an insightful and valuable experience, equipping attendees with essential stress management skills. Participants remained actively engaged, ensuring they could apply the techniques in their personal and professional lives. Given the highly positive feedback, it is recommended that similar workshops be conducted regularly to reinforce these strategies and provide continuous support to educators and students alike.
