On March 13, 2025, we reached Ashraya at 10:00 AM for the second day of our visit, accompanied by our teachers, Ms. Vismaya Thomas and Ms. Sithusha. The day began with an orientation and reflection session led by Shanthakumar Sir, where we shared thoughts on the previous day's experiences and discussed areas for growth. He also introduced us to upcoming debate topics—mobile usage, all-pass in exams, and ragging—encouraging us to think critically and prepare thoughtfully.
At 10:30 AM, we were split into two groups and sent to interact with residents in the male and female wards. In the male ward, we met residents like Gopalakrishnan, Sukumaran, Krishna Kumar, and Satheeshkumar, who shared stories, sang songs with us, and even demonstrated yoga. Their warm responses made the interactions deeply meaningful. By 11:00 AM, we gathered in the general hall for a group activity session filled with games, singing, dancing, and exercises. The energy was high, and the residents’ joyful participation made it a lively and heartwarming experience.
The prayer session from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM brought a calm and spiritual atmosphere, during which I had the chance to join others in singing a prayer song. This was followed by a welcome speech from Mr. Varghese Kurien, who spoke about Ashraya’s mission. After lunch, we spent time in the female ward, connecting with residents like Shanthamma and Naseela, who openly shared their life stories. In the final part of the day, we helped clean and organize the library, followed by a reflection session guided by our teachers. This allowed us to process the emotional depth of the day and recognize the impact of our interactions.
