TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE- 1
WEEKLY REFLECTION- 3
This week was both academically productive and experientially rich, as I got opportunities to handle regular classes, observation classes, substitution duties, and also to participate in school-level events like Sports Day.
On 28th July (Day 10, Monday)
I took the third period in class 9E, where I used the Constructivist Model to solve problems related to Triangle Division. My mentor teacher Renju Miss was present during the session, and her observation helped me refine my classroom practices. The use of a constructive approach made the students more active in problem-solving. In the afternoon, students had mid-term exams, so I assisted in exam duties and paper correction.
On 29th July (Day 11, Tuesday)
I handled the fourth period, where I introduced a new topic – Mid-section of a Triangle in Parallel Lines using ICT and a story method. The story of three travelers created curiosity and engagement among students, making the session lively. Later, I had a substitution class in 8F, where I guided students in preparing sociometric data, and they participated enthusiastically.
On 30th July (Day 12, Wednesday)
I experimented with the Inquiry Training Model while teaching a problem on the Mid-section theorem. Students worked with curiosity and solved the problem step by step. The day also coincided with Sports Day preparations, and we trainees assisted the teachers in organizing and supporting various activities.
On 31st July (Day 13, Thursday)
my class was during the second period, where I focused on problem-solving based on the Mid-section theorem. Students actively engaged in finding solutions, and the class was highly interactive. In the afternoon, we joined in Sports Day preparations, supporting teachers and monitoring classrooms during free hours.
On 1st August (Day 14, Friday)
the school conducted Sports Day. A total of 41 B.Ed trainees, including us, were assigned various duties. I was given First Aid duty along with other trainees, where we attended to children who had minor injuries. It was a completely new experience, and we also got the chance to observe the organization and management of school-level sports. The day was very engaging, and it gave us practical exposure beyond classroom teaching.
